Georgia Ann Olson Koenig Larkin, 88, of Austin, Minnesota, died Sunday, May 15, 2016, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home.

She was born Sept. 21, 1927 in Dodge Center, Minnesota, the daughter of Anton and Edna (Sperling) Olson. Georgia was baptized in the Methodist faith on Nov. 20, 1927, and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Austin, Minnesota, on Dec. 15, 1955. She joined Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Austin on Dec. 2, 1979. Before attending Hamline University for one year, Georgia graduated as valedictorian from the Dodge Center High School Class of 1945.

Before her marriage, she worked for Federated Insurance Company in Owatonna. On May 25, 1947, Georgia married Kenneth William Koenig. To this union two children were born. The couple lived in Dodge Center for two years and were associated with the Dodge Center Grain Elevator Company. They moved to Lake Lillian, Minnesota and then Douglas, Minnesota before settling in Austin in January 1952. Georgia and Kenneth owned and operated the Austin Grain Company until Dec. 31, 1990. In October 1979, they purchased the Kensett Feed Mill Inc. in Kensett, Iowa, which they operated until it was sold on Aug. 31, 1991. Kenneth passed away suddenly on Nov. 29, 1988.

On Dec. 23, 1989, Georgia married Robert J. Larkin. They made their home in Austin. Robert passed away on June 17, 2004.

Georgia worked as bookkeeper for their businesses as well as for Sherwin-Williams and Serendipity. A lover of music, she served her Lord as organist for St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Beautiful Savior for over 40 years. Georgia spent much of her time in other church activities such as serving as assistant to the treasurer for many years and was active in the Rebecca Circle, the Women’s Society, and the church choir. An active volunteer for several organizations including the Red Cross and the Paramount Theater, she was a life member of the hospital auxiliary and a charter member of the Home Executives (formerly Home Extension Service). Georgia belonged to the Mower County Senior Citizens Center, several card clubs, the Austin Artist Series, and bank senior clubs. Georgia and Robert enjoyed traveling, taking numerous motor coach tours in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. They especially enjoyed the theater and helped support the two seasons in Austin and Albert Lea. Among their other favorite pastimes were playing cards with their friends and going to dances.

She was preceded in death by her parents Anton and Edna Olson, her two husbands Kenneth Koenig and Robert Larkin, and a sister in infancy. All who knew Georgia will miss her. God bless her memory.

Georgia is survived by her children, Marjorie (Allen) Rosendahl of Fridley, Minnesota, Steven (LuAnne) Koenig of Stewartville, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Andrew (Caitlyn) Rosendahl of Medina, Minnesota, Martin (Rachel) Rosendahl of Fall Creek, Wisconsin, Amy Rosendahl (Joe Stone) of Missoula, Montana, Erin (Steve) Milz and Holly (Kyle) Meyers, both of Stewartville, Minnesota, Troy (Sheraya) Koenig of Grand Meadow, Minnesota; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother David Olson of Florida, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Welke officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning before the service. The family will greet guests from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. There will be no reviewal on Thursday at the church.
