Clifton B. Leininger, 95, of Dexter, Minnesota, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016, at his home.

Clifton B. Leininger was born Oct. 24, 1920, in Oakland, Minnesota, to Frank Anthony and Lovina Jane (Ballard) Leininger. He was a 1940 graduate from the Elkton High School in Elkton, Minnesota. On June 1, 1943, Cliff was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Dawson in Elk River, Minnesota. After Cliff and Mary Ellen got married, Cliff enlisted into the United States Army on June 15, 1943, and served until December 13, 1945. When Cliff was discharged from the Army, he returned home and worked on the family farm and at IBM in quality control until his retirement in 1983. After his retirement, Cliff attended Austin VoTech and received a degree in auto body repair, and he also went to oil painting classes in Rochester and Austin. Among repairing cars, creating many oil paintings, and designing and building a surveillance system for his farm, Cliff had various hobbies. Most of all, Cliff enjoyed fishing at the lake with his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was also a member of a support group in Austin for macular degeneration.

Cliff is survived by his children, Sharon (Lee) Wright of Spokane, Washington, Terry (Dee) Leininger of Elkton, Minnesota, and Brian (Cathy) Leininger of The Villages, Florida; seven grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lovina, wife, Mary Ellen, and brother, Reno.

Memorial services for Clifton Leininger will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow, Minnesota with Pastor Joe Haynes officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
