Austin cycling team holding informational meeting Monday

The Austin Area High School Cycling Team will hold an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday in the large conference room at the Austin Public Library. This is a co-ed school team for grades seven to 12, which race mountain bikes against other high schools.  Kickball league

Registration is open for our Thursday night adult co-rec kickball league with deadline on Friday, May 27.

You can turn your roster, player and entry fees in anytime until then to your office. Team entry fee is $120 plus a player fee of $8. Roster limit is 20. Games will start June 9 and play eight weeks.

 Youth soccer

Kids ages 5 to 12 can participate in a free community soccer league hosted by the Kaufman Park neighborhood on Tuesday and Thursday’s from 5 to 6 p.m. Just show up ready to learn and play some soccer, everyone is welcome and no equipment is required. Contact Jenny or Bobby at 507-403-7649.

 Nature Center

Nature Play Afternoons will start on Thursday, June 16. Check out the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center site for all the programs they have to offer as well as the special events held in the Ruby Rupner Auditorium at www.hormelnaturecenter.org.

 Municipal Swimming Pool

Registration for Park and Recreation Summer programs, swim lessons and municipal pool memberships have begun. Check out our summer brochure located on our city website at www.ci.austin.mn.us.

If you have school-age children they should have brought one home in their book bag, you can pick one up in our office and you will see them in local businesses as well.

The first open swim session at the pool will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 13. Hours of open swim are 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday.

The adult lap swim will be held noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Our season membership is $30 per person, ages 2 and under are free. The daily admission is $3 in the afternoon and $2 for the three evening swims.

The Austin Municipal Pool will host three swim meets this summer which will be facilitated by Atlantis Swimming Federation, coach Mark Vininski. The meet dates are June 4 and 5; June 10, 11 and 12; and July 22, 23 and 24.

 Riverside Arena

Stick Time dates are from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 4:30 to 6 p.m. today. These are the last scheduled dates.

Adult Open Hockey will be from 6:45 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the last scheduled date.

The cost is $6 per person, you must be at least in high school, no checking, no alcohol and a helmet is required. Goalies are free and must have full gear. Like us on Facebook to get up to date information.

Public skating at Riverside Arena is 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. today.

The cost is $4 to skate and $1 to rent skates. The arenas are also available to rent for private parties at $130 per hour. Call for availability.

•June 3, 4 and 5: Three-day Power Skating and Skills Hockey Clinic for students ages 4 to 18.

•June 13 – 17: Austin Bruin’s Youth Hockey School for boys and girls ages 7 to 14.

•June 20 – 24: Austin Packers, Coach Fornwald’s Summer Hockey School for Squirts/U10; PeeWee/U12/U15; Girls JV/Varsity.
