Sukalski Crowned Mower County Dairy Princess

Stephanie Sukalski of LeRoy was crowned 2016 Mower County Dairy Princess at the 63rd Annual Dairy Princess Banquet, Saturday, April 2, at the Sacred Heart Auditorium in Adams.

Sukalski is the daughter of Troy and Christine Sukalski and was sponsored by Land O’Lakes Inc.

About 170 people attended the annual dairy celebration.

The following three young women were named Mower County Dairy Ambassadors: Abby Rossow, daughter of Mike and Vicki Rossow, of Dexter, sponsored by Mayer Milk Hauling; Rachel Kloeckner, daughter of John and Barb Kloeckner, of Adams, sponsored by Four Way Farms, Inc. and Foremost Farms; and Cassidy Reinartz, daughter of Steve and Darcey Reinartz, of Adams, sponsored by Northern Country Coop. The candidates were presented with “Austin Chamber Bucks” Ardis Jensen representing the Austin Chamber of Commerce.

Three girls were named 2016 Mower County Milkmaids. The milkmaids are; Emma Haugen daughter of Corey and Jen Haugen, Austin; Amelia Smith daughter of Ed Smith and Heather Schmitz, of Rose Creek; and Lydia Reinartz daughter of Steve and Darcey Reinartz, of Adams.

The banquet began with a dairy social hour allowing guests to meet the current dairy royalty as well as the 2016 candidates. During the social hour the royalty and candidates served samples of dairy products. Guests could also view live and silent scholarship auction items before the start of the banquet.

McKinzie Smith, 2015 Mower County Dairy Princess and Princess Kay of the Milky Way finalist, presented the Milk Pitcher award to Cristy Sathre, Adams. This award is presented to an individual who does an outstanding job of promoting dairy products. Sathre has managed the malt wagon at Adams Dairy Days for many years.

The Golden Butter Knife was presented to Wayne and Jodie Baldner, owners of The Creek Bar and Grill, Rose Creek.

The annual banquet is organized by the Mower County American Dairy Association Board which is chaired by Chris Sukalski, LeRoy, and includes Rick Smith, Adams, Vice-Chair; Tanya Miller, of LeRoy, Secretary; Gene Anderson, Waltham, Treasurer; and Tracy Smith, of Adams, Princess Coordinator. Additional board directors include Randy Smith, Adams, Ed Smith, Rose Creek and Lisa Hurley, Grand Meadow.
