“They know its on them and we just told them to take care of business and the wins will come. Our bats were going and when the walk was there, they took the walk,” LP head coach Jeff Yocom said. “Their desire is all there. They have a lot of desire to play and I’m happy for them to get that first win.”

LP pitcher Danielle Hinz allowed just three hits and she struck out two. She was also one-for-two with a double and an RBI.

“It’s a nice boost and on our home field it’s really great. I’m really getting into this year,” Hinz said.

LP shortstop Abby Bollingberg was three-for-three with three RBIs. She said the Athletics are starting to hit hit their stride this season.

“Our games have been a lot closer this year and we’ve had some good hitting,” she said. “Coach told us going into this one that it was winnable and we had the confidence to win.”
