Darrell George Stacy, 82

He was born on April 29, 1933, in Ceylon, Minnesota, to George and Edith (Penniman) Stacy. Darrell graduated from Ceylon High School in 1951 and served in the United States Air Force Security Service from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean conflict. On May 25, 1956, Darrell married Grace Tietje at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert, Minnesota. The couple raised two children, David and Susan. Following his 1962 graduation from Mankato Commercial College, the Stacys moved to Austin and Darrell went to work as an accountant for the City of Austin. In June of 1966 until 1974, he worked as Austin’s city recorder. From 1974 until his retirement in 1991, he proudly served as Austin’s city administrator. Among Darrell’s favorite pastimes were fishing, playing Oklahoma Rummy with family, doing crosswords and puzzles, and reading any book by Louis L’Amour. He especially enjoyed his time spent with family and friends. Darrell and Grace made four enjoyable trips to Alaska to visit David and his family. In 1986, they purchased a home on Child Lake in northern Minnesota, spending many years fishing and making memories with family and friends. Darrell’s later years were spent at Primrose Retirement Community. The family extends many thanks to the wonderful staff for all the help and support he was given. Darrell will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
