Austin woman hurt in I-35 crash

An Austin woman was one of seven people injured in a crash on Interstate 35 in Faribault Sunday.
The crash occurred when a southbound 2015 Toyota Scion attempted to make a u-turn on I-35. When it turned northbound on I-35, a northbound 2005 Nissan Armada collided with the Scion, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Jessica Smith, 28, of Austin was driving the Scion and was one of seven people to sustain non life-threatening injuries. The others were: David Mackenzi, 58, of Oakbank, Manitoba, Canada; Ashton Hoskins, 22, of Minneapolis; Hannah Belinski, 15; Daniel Belinski, 45; Robert McKenzie and Catherine Pelowski.
Both vehicles sustained severe damage.
The Rice County Sheriff’s Office assisted on the scene.
