Robert J. Dunn, 88, of Austin, Minnesota, died Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin.

Bob was born Sept. 9, 1927, in Moose Lake, Minnesota, to John and Bertha (Strehlow) Dunn. He married Ellen Thompson of Albert Lea in August 1950. To this union three daughters and a son were born, Mary Ellen McCarren, Oakland, California, Kathryn Dunn, Tucson, Arizona, Pat (David) Larson, Austin, Minnesota, and Robert Michael Dunn who passed away in April 2001.

After serving in the United State Air Force he was an electrician for the Hormel Company for 41-and-a-half years. Boating, camping, traveling, and flying were his hobbies. Bob and Ellen also delivered motor homes to dealers and took many cruises.

Bob did volunteer service and was in the Honor Guard for veterans’ funerals and was a member of the American Legion and disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen, Austin, Minnesota; three daughters; grandsons, Jeremy Ashton, Justin Ashton, and Tom Dunn; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertha; son, Robert; sisters, Elizabeth and Lorraine (brother-in-law, Frank); sister-in-law, Beulah Sorby (Jerry); brothers-in-law, Larry Thompson (Marion), Dewain Thompson (Shirly), Melvin Thompson.
