Michael Romaine Morehouse, 69, of Austin, Minnesota, died Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System of Austin.

Michael was born on Sept. 29, 1946, in Little Canada St. Paul, Minnesota, to Melchor J. and Martha A. (Ripka) Morehouse. He was the fourth out of 13 children. They lived in Mora, Minnesota, until 1959 and they moved to Austin. Michael graduated from Pacelli High School in 1964. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1967. He met and married Michele (Baxter) in February 1969. They had four children. Michael worked at Hills Heating Cooling and Roofing for 30-some years, finally becoming a security guard for Hormel Foods Inc., where he retired and worked part-time.

He is survived by his family, Michele Morehouse; four children, Kristine Sawyer and Gary Voshell of Onamia, Minnesota, Jason and Lisa Morehouse of Brownsdale, Minnesota, Jeromy Morehouse and Monica Fairchild of Austin, Karena and Brock Tufte of Austin; 11 grandchildren, Kaycee and James Voshell, Heather Gwilt (Chevy Brown) and Kyler Morehouse (Lacey Heyer) Tori Fuller, Elaine, Taylor, Elizabeth, Sally, Shelby and Tyler Tufte; six great-grandchildren, Faith, Kathyrn, Jazmyn, Jason, Isabella and Paislee; brothers and sisters, Janet Seiver, Nancy (Terry) Lafin, Thomas (Dawn) Morehouse, Mark (Jan) Morehouse, Scott (Linda) Morehouse, JoAnne (Gene) Jiracek, Susan Morehouse, Mary (Joe) Lukens, Dianne Unruh and (Dan), Steve Morehouse; along with many nieces and nephews.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wayne and James Morehouse; brother-In-laws, James Seiver and Keith Unruh; sister-in-laws, Peggy Morehouse, Jan Morehouse, Lynne Shada; parent-in-laws, Gaylord and Connie Baxter; and a granddaughter Katelin Sawyer.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Mayer Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Mayer Funeral Home and again an hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday. Military rites will be performed by the Austin American Legion Post No. 91 and the Austin VFW Post No. 1216.
