Imogene “Jean” Ilene Leidal, 89, of Austin, Minnesota, died Saturday morning, March 12, 2016, at St. Mark’s Memory Care Unit in Austin.

160314.ImogeneLeidalShe was born Jan. 20, 1927, in Austin, Minnesota, the daughter of Louis and Mable (Harris) Cafourek. She attended elementary school in London, Minnesota, and graduated from Lyle High School. After graduation, she attended nurses’ training at Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea, Minnesota. She worked as a nurse and later for Hormel Foods in the ham trimming area, retiring in 1981. She married Quinten Leidal on March 23, 1947, and they were later divorced. She enjoyed cats and gardening. She was very interested in her family genealogy and loved to attend family reunions. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin.

Survivors include her children, Steven Leidal of Austin, Mike (Karen) Leidal of Austin, Bob Leidal of Claremont, Jayne (Gary) Nash of Austin, and Jerry Leidal of Austin; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a grandson, Jason Leidal.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 17, 2016, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Pastor Robert Bailey officiating. Interment will follow the service in Woodbury Cemetery near Lyle, Minnesota. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
