The Austin Area Chamber of Commerce is going to recognize businesses for a strong 2015, but it’s going to do so a little differently.

The chamber is holding its annual banquet Thursday at the Holiday Inn Austin Conference Center starting with a 5 p.m. social hour, a 6 p.m. dinner and a 6:45 p.m. program.

But the chamber is shuffling its annual awards. The chamber did away with new business of the year, and it split business of the year into two awards: small business (up to 15 employees) and large business (15 and above.

The chamber will again recognize Project of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Ambassador of the Year, Ambassador team of the Year, and the Mower Refreshed businesses of the year.

The 17 nominees span a wide variety of sectors, according to Executive Director Sandy Forstner.

“I think it’s pretty well reflective of our membership,” he said.

This year’s banquet theme is “The Future is So Bright,” and Forstner described it as a great night to celebrate and thank businesses for their support.

Last year, T ‘N G Plumbing won Business of the Year, Runnings won new business and the Cedar Valley Services won top project.
