Minnesota National Guard promotes 1st female general

MINNEAPOLIS — An Air Force colonel has become the first female general in Minnesota’s National Guard.

Sandra Best was promoted to the rank of brigadier general during a ceremony on Thursday.

Gov. Mark Dayton says in a statement that Best has proven her commitment to Minnesota and the United States during many years of dedicated service.
