Herman J. Koenigs, 67

Herman J. Koenigs, 67, of Adams, Minnesota, died at his home on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016.
He was born in Osage, Iowa, on April 12, 1948, to Joseph and Julia (May) Koenigs. He graduated from Marian High School in Stacyville, Iowa, in 1966. He then attended Brown Institute in the Twin Cities. Upon completion he worked as a DJ in Platteville, Wisconsin, for several years before moving to Austin where he worked as an engineer at KAAL for nearly 20 years. He also worked at Thill Implement in Rose Creek as a parts man for several years.
Herman had many hobbies including singing and riding his custom-built three-wheeled motorcycle. He also enjoyed visiting with people and being with his family, especially his nieces, nephews, cousins and their kids.
Two weeks ago, Herman was able to go and see Garrison Keillor, something that he had always wanted to do.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Julia; sisters, Trudy Holmgren and Norma Tripp.
Herman is survived by his sisters, Margaret (Bruce) Eggenberger, Rochester, Minnesota,, Dorothy Koenigs, Rochester, Minnesota; brother, Peter Koenigs, McIntire, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Carl (Sheryl) Holmgren, Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, Roger Tripp, Coon Rapids, Minnesota; nine nieces and nephews, and 11 great-nieces and -nephews, and many friends.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Oratory, Meyer, Iowa, on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, with the Rev. Swaminatha Pothireddy officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meyer, Iowa, at a later date. Visitation will be held at the Sacred Heart Oratory, Meyer, Iowa, on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. Visitation will also be at the Oratory for one hour before the service on Saturday morning. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
