DULUTH — A 75-year-old Minnesota man who’s battling cancer is gearing up to run his 92nd marathon.
Don Wright, a Duluth native, will participate in the Memorial Hermann USA Fit Marathon on Jan. 31 in Sugar Land, Texas. The race begins and ends on the University of Houston campus.
Wright’s first marathon was Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth in 2003, when he was 62. A few weeks after the race, he was diagnosed with myeloma, a blood cancer that damages bones.
Wright ran a marathon in all 50 states after his diagnosis. He hopes to complete his 100th marathon by the end of the year.
