Elementary students got to celebrate a special week for education by creating posters highlighting why Inclusive Schools Week is important.

Inclusive Schools Week, celebrated the first full week of December, highlights and celebrates the progress that schools have made in implementing inclusive practices to ensure a quality education for an increasingly diverse student population.

The second-grade winner was Sophia Tweeten at Southgate Elementary.

The week celebrates the inclusion of students of many different abilities and disabilities, as well as different races and ethnicities, in our schools.

To celebrate the week, the Austin Public Schools Special Education Advisory Council sponsored a poster contest at the elementary level.
