The Hayfield girls basketball team couldn’t keep up with Byron (15-2 overall, 8-1 HVL), as it lost 52-30 to the Bears, who are ranked No. 6 in Class AAA, in Hayfield Thursday.

Maggie Streightiff had 10 points for the Vikings (10-7 overall, 7-4 HVL).

“We couldn’t stop the inside game. In the second half, we couldn’t make anything,” Hayfield head coach Fred Kindschy said.
