“I hadn’t even thought about it when we were having her that she’d be the first baby of the new year until the nurses said it,” Colette said, adding with a laugh that she “didn’t really care at that point.”

Sailor arrived a few days earlier than expected, as Colette was scheduled to be induced on Monday.

“I was actually not having her until Monday; it was a surprise,” Colette said.

Colette, Tony and Sailor’s big brother, Beckett, 6, took their little girl home on Saturday.

“Now [we] just have a 6-year-old that’s going to want to hold a baby a lot,” Colette said of Beckett.

Not only is Sailor the Leas’ first daughter, but she’s also the first girl in Colette’s extended family.

“So she’ll be a little spoiled,” Colette said with a laugh.

For being the first 2016 baby, the Tony and Colette received a few gifts from Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin, including a pack and play, a little ride-on car and a diaper cake, along with an actual cake from Hy-Vee.

The Leas have owned the Blooming Prairie Cue Company and the Pizza Cellar for about nine years.
