Austin students chosen for honor orchestra

Some of Austin Public Schools orchestra students are getting a chance to perform at the Minneapolis Convention Center in February.

Eight ninth-graders and two eighth-graders were accepted into the MNSOTA Mid-Level Honors Orchestra, which features the very best orchestra students in Minnesota from grades seventh through ninth.

The students will perform at the Minneapolis Convention center Feb. 13. This year MNSOTA MLHO had 122 students across the state of Minnesota apply for the MLHO Orchestra. Sixty-two students were accepted into the ensemble and represent the best string players in grades seventh through ninth in the state. Ten of the 62 students accepted are from Austin.

Teddy Lund was chosen first chair in the cello section and Charlie Kanne was chosen first chair in the viola section.
