Marcella “Blondie” Josephine Mauer, 88, of Austin, Minnesota, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Health System – Austin.

She was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Austin, Minnesota, to Charles and Alice Mae (Pechacek) Dockham. She married Leon A. Mauer on June 21, 1948, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 1997.

Marcella enjoyed her children, grandchildren and extended family immensely and hosted many family gatherings at the “farm.” She was always busy cooking, baking, decorating and keeping everything tidy.

Survivors include her children: Rodney (Marianne) Mauer, Owatonna, Lucinda (Helmut) Gusts, Janesville, Douglas (Jodie) Mauer, Austin; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; brothers: Rolland (Georgia) Dockham, Cherokee Village, Arkansas, Charles Dockham, Anoka; sister-in-law, Betty Dockham New Brighton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Adolph and Kenneth; sisters: Alice Schlichter, Charlotte Alt, Bertha Denham, Alline Kirkwood.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, at Mayer Funeral Home with Pastor David Simerson officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Wednesday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Condolences may be left online at www.mayerfh.com.
