Hayfield boys basketball team falls to No. 9 Lake City

The Hayfield boys basketball team gave No. 9 ranked Lake City (5-0 overall, 2-0 HVL) a run for its money, but the Vikings lost 57-54 on the road Friday.

The Vikings (0-4 overall, 0-2 HVL) had the ball down three with 1:15 left in the game when it committed a turnover and it never had another chance at tying the game. Hayfield had led 35-31 earlier in the second half.

Aaron Anderson had 19 points and 14 rebounds for Hayfield and Drew Olive scored 15 points as he went 5-for-9 on three-pointers.

“We played well,” Hayfield head coach Chris Pack said. “It was a fun game.”
