Nordquist

Timothy Peter Nordquist, 58, Eden Prairie, Minnesota, died Oct. 27, 2015.

He was born Dec. 18, 1956, in Owatonna, Minnesota, to Thomas and Joan (Gwin) Nordquist. Tim graduated from Owatonna High School in 1975 and enrolled in Austin Area Vocational Technical Institute in the auto mechanic program, graduating in 1977. It was there he met his future wife on graduation night, Leah Nelson of Austin, Minnesota. While attending school, Tim worked at Von Ruden and Owatonna Manufacturing Company as a machinist. On Oct. 14, 1978, Tim and Leah Nelson were married in Mankato, Minnesota. After their graduation, Tim and Leah moved to the Twin Cities where Tim held a number of machining and tool and die positions. Tim worked for Charmilles Andrew/Andrew Engineering for 26 years as a tool and die maker and CAM programmer. Tim’s life was forever blessed on July 29, 1991, with the birth of his son, Thomas. Tim loved taking his little boy to the park, tucking him in at night, watching him play baseball and basketball, building Pinewood Derby cars together and helping scouting Pack 592 and Troop 342 with biking campouts and pancake breakfasts. Tim was proud to see Tom achieve the rank of Eagle Scout in 2010 and receive his diploma from the University of Minnesota Duluth this past May. Besides scouting, Tim volunteered his time and talents with Wings of the North (WOTN.org) whose mission is to preserve and present aviation history. Tim managed security and performed other duties during the annual Air Expo at Flying Cloud Airport. He also acted as liaison between WOTN and Eden Prairie High School for the James F. Dubay Memorial Scholarship.

In addition to Leah and Tom, Tim is survived by his immediate family: mother Joan and brother Andrew (Deb) of Faribault, Minnesota; sister Marilyn (Daniel) of Kent, England; brothers-in-law: Randy Naae of Bloomington, Minnesota, and James (Deb) Nelson of Austin, Minnesota; beloved niece and nephew Rachel and Brian Naae of Bloomington, Minnesota; uncle Richard (Rita) Nordquist of Lino Lakes, Minnesota; aunt Gloria; and many cousins that were like brothers and sisters to him.
