Pacelli’s Christopherson takes 8th at state cross country meet

Pacelli freshman Kayla Christopherson did exactly what she came to do at the Class A state cross country meet at St. Olaf College in Northfield Saturday.
Christopherson ran an All-State time for the second straight year and this time she worked her way up to the podium as she took eighth place overall.
“I’m super happy. Moving up in places is positive and moving forward shows that you’re getting better,” said Christohperson, who took 20th at state as an eighth grader.
Christopherson finished Saturday’s race with a time of 19:22.7.
“At the end someone tried to pass me and I kicked it in at the end,” Christopherson said
In the Class A boys race, GMLOS’s Peter Torkelson took 35th place with a time of 17:07.5. Toreklson, a junior, was running in his first state cross country meet and he is the first GMLOS runner to run at the state meet.
Blooming Prairie’s Alec Ille, a sophomore, took 90th with a time of 17:40 in his first state cross country meet.
