Just four days ago, the No. 3-seeded Austin Packers soccer team battled through overtime and a shootout to take down No. 2 seeded Northfield in the Section 1A semifinals.

Faced with a similar situation Thursday night against top-seeded Rochester Lourdes, the Packers couldn’t repeat the feat, losing 1-0 off a corner kick in the second overtime.

The two teams played to a 0-0 stalemate through both the first and second halves and the first overtime before Lourdes’ Donovan Buss came through with the header.

It would have marked the first time since 2009 the Packers made it through to the Minnesota State Class A Boys Soccer Tournament.

The Packers have been in the section title game five of the last seven years, breaking through just once.
