MINNEAPOLIS — Signs at Minneapolis’ Lake Calhoun will soon also refer to its Dakota name after a vote by park commissioners.
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board voted Wednesday night to put Bde Maka Ska on signs around the lake. Activists have advocated for officials to change the name of the lake, but park board attorney Brian Rice says the board doesn’t have the authority to do that.
