The Blooming Prairie football team relied on its defense to beat Saint Clair (0-3 overall) 24-3 in BP Friday.

The Awesome Blossoms (2-1 overall) trailed 3-0 at halftime and Lucas Noble gave BP the lead for good when he scored on a quarterback sneak with 4:31 left in the third quarter. Anthony Nelson, who ran for 70 yards, added a pair of rushing TDs for BP and Jon Hatch ran an interception back for a TD as time expired.

BP held Saint Clair to 171 yards of offense.

“The defense kept us in the game until we were able to get our offense to start clicking,” BP head coach Chad Gimbel said.
