After it struggled scoring goals throughout most of last season, the Austin girls soccer team opened 2015 with a bang as it scored three goals in the first 20 minutes en route to a 5-1 win over Fairmont in Art Hass Stadium Thursday.
Austin sophomore Isabelle Leuer scored two goals and Paige Raymond, Kallie Bumgarner and Myia Hoium all scored one goal for the Packers (1-0 overall).
“The girls were really aggressive early on and they had really good passes with perfect angles,” Austin head coach Enrique Camarena-Corzo said. “Basically they played a perfect game.”
Chloe Summerfield had nine saves in the win for Austin, which had 18 shots as a team.
