Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi is warning residents to be wary of workers from Harrison Asphalt, a company that is allegedly going door-to-door offering to redo driveways using extra material at high prices.

Several residents have reported the scam over the past few weeks with similar stories about the workers, who allegedly use shoddy asphalt to cover existing blacktop at a large markup. One Grand Meadow resident allegedly paid $17,000 for a job, according to Amazi.

Though the scam isn’t a criminal issue, Amazi urged residents to refuse services from people coming to their door, and to contact law enforcement in case something needs to be documented for civil court.
