Post 1216 keeps season alive, will play Sunday

Evan Horstmann and Evan McAlister played a big role in keeping Austin’s season alive as Post 1216 beat the Rochester Knights 11-1 in five innings in a Sub-District elimination game in Marcusen Park Saturday.

Horstmann picked up the mound win and he went 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI and McAlister went 3-for-3 with three RBIs in the win. Austin trailed 1-0 after one inning, but it scored six runs in the bottom of the second to take over.

Austin must now win three games in a row to advance to the District tournament and it will play the loser of Winona and Owatonna 11 a.m. Sunday in Marcusen Park.
