Letter: God’s word comes with consequences

Many people like to have this image of God as a big, fuzzy loving God. They like to think that God loves everybody and never gets angry and there are no consequences for our actions. So sad.

Here are some of the verses my bible has. Maybe I just don’t understand them. Perhaps Ms. Mason could explain them to me. Or maybe not all Bibles have these verses?

Matthew 7:21: (Jesus said) “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”

Deuteronomy 22:5: “A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this.”

1 Corinthians 6:9-10: “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.”

2 Timothy 4:3: “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.”

And finally a quote from Marcus Aurelius, Roman General/Philosopher: “Look back over the past, with its changing empires that rose and fell, and you can foresee the future, too.”
