Dixie L. Warrington, 86, died on Friday, July 10, 2015, at the Osage Rehab and Health Center, Osage, Iowa.
Dixie was born in Carpenter, Iowa, on Oct. 16, 1928, the daughter of Rufus and Nettie (Bendickson) Frank. Dixie had one brother, Delos (Delores) Frank. She was baptized and confirmed in Carpenter, Iowa. Dixie graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1946. She married Charles Warrington on Sept. 9, 1947, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, Iowa, and to the union seven children were born. She was employed by the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar, working as a med aid for over 30 years. Throughout life she found a joy in writing songs, poems and making tributes to special occasions that touched her heart. She took great pleasure in spending time with her family and friends.
Dixie was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 2008; her parents; and one brother-in-law, Francis Heimerman.
Dixie is survived by seven children: David and his wife Betty (Wilde) of Urbana, Iowa, Becky and her husband Dean Bartusek of Hanlontown, Iowa, Tom and his wife Amy (Thome) of Whittemore, Iowa, Dan and his wife Wanda (Mayer) of St. Ansgar, Donna and her husband David Capuzzi of Rochester, Minnesota, Sue and her husband John Hackenmiller of Burlington, Iowa, and Dawn and her husband Eric Tollefson of Britt, Iowa. She has 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, aids and caregivers. A special thanks to the staff at Osage Rehab and Health Center and St. Croix Hospice.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1204 State St. in Osage, Iowa, with the Rev. Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery, St. Ansgar, Iowa. Visitation will be held at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 13, where a Rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m. and a scripture service at 7 p.m. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements. www.schroederandsites.com
