The Austin Post 1216 VFW baseball team will have home field advantage as it looks to keep its season alive in Marcusen Park this weekend.

For the third straight year, Austin will host a 4-team District 1 Sub-District tournament. Austin is the No. 4 seed and it will host No. 5 Owatonna, No. 13 Winona and the No. 12 seeded Knights.

Last year, Post 1216 won the District tournament and it went on to play in the state tournament. Austin head coach Mark Conner said that the team has an advantage playing at home and he’s hoping they can play well against three teams they’ve already beaten this season.

“That’s certainly what you want is to host it and we’re excited about playing in Marcusen Park,” Conner said. “We’ll have to take care of business and see what happens.”

Austin will open the double elimination tournament play by hosting Winona at 9 a.m. Saturday If Austin wins that game, it will play against 4:30 p.m.

The Sub-District tile game will take place 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
