A duo of tattoo artists from Rochester will display their art at the Austin ArtWorks Center.

From June 19 to July 22, Nick Sinclair and Mike Erickson will show their work starting with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on June 19.

Sinclair will show in the main gallery. The exhibit is a break from his classic pen and ink and explores what he calls “pop-impressionism.” His work is made exclusively with a palette knife and acrylic paints and he is heavily influenced by hot rod culture. Sinclair experiments with color and loose swipes of paint giving it an impressionistic feel with bold colors and modern imagery giving each piece an almost abstract feel.

Erickson will have his work displayed in the emerging artist gallery. His classic portraits explore strong lines with a minimalist approach and are an extension from his experience in the tattoo industry.

The shows are free and refreshments at the opening reception will be provided by Hy-Vee.
