Kilmer

Kerry Mitchell “Mitch” Kilmer, 60, died unexpectedly at his home in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, on Monday, June 15, 2015.

Mitch was born on June 20, 1954, in Austin, Minnesota, to Gordie and Jackie Kilmer.

Mitch attended school in Austin and served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed his tour of duty in Germany – loved the country and the people. Mitch taught himself to speak German and traveled extensively throughout the country.

Mitch held many jobs through the years including stints at Quality Pork and Hormel Foods in Austin, Minnesota. Although Mitch was not afraid to voice his opinion about issues on any of his jobs, he was a very hard worker. He is remembered as being an outspoken advocate for himself and his fellow workers.

In 2003, Mitch met and married Thu Dang in a traditional Vietnamese wedding in Vietnam. He again taught himself the Vietnamese language. They spent one winter in Austin, and then headed south seeking a warmer climate. Truth be told, Mitch was seeking a climate that afforded year-round fishing and golfing opportunities.

In Port Saint Lucie, Mitch realized his dream of becoming his own boss and owning his own business. He turned his love of golf-ball hunting into a successful business – buying and selling all types of golf equipment.

Mitch’s passions were camping with family and friends, fishing, playing golf and pool. If Mitch counted you as a friend, you were his friend for life, and he would do anything that you needed. He is sadly missed by many people.

Mitch is survived by his daughters: Kristie (Dannish) Hogfeldt, and Kari Hummel; his grandchildren: Jerica, Carrisa, Madison, Timothy, Christopher, Anthony, Alexis and Jadyn; brother Tracy (Amy) Kilmer; sisters: Mona (Marlon) Wiegert, Jolie (Scott) Loiselle and Kim (Julie) Glover; nephews: Shane, Cory, Jake, Devin and Quin; nieces: Shelby, Kye, Amity, Chelsey and Macy.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jackie Kilmer.

A visitation will be held Sunday, June 21, at All County Funeral Home, 1107 Lake Avenue, Lake Worth FL 33460 from 2 to 4 p.m. A memorial/celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 11, 2015, at River Oaks (formerly Ramsey) Golf clubhouse, Austin, Minnesota, starting at 4 p.m.
