Dr. R. Harned Isele, 85, of Austin, Minnesota, died Sunday, May 31, 2015, at St. Marks Lutheran Home.

Reginald Harned Isele was born Jan. 3, 1930, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, to Reginald Otto and Mary Ethel (Harned) Isele. He graduated from Princeton University and Cornell University Medical College. Harned married Joan Larson June 15, 1955. After serving as an Air Force doctor (Captain) at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, he completed his internal medicine residency at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York City. He served as a physician at the Austin Medical Center for 40 years.

Dr. Isele served as president of the Austin Symphony, the Austin Artist Series and Rotary Club of Austin. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Austin, where he served as an elder.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Dr. Peter Isele.

Dr. Isele is survived by his wife, Joan; son and daughter-in-law: Frederick and Susan Isele, Dublin, Ohio; daughters and sons-in-law: Lisa and Robert Forsyth, Webster Grove, Missouri, Nadine Isele, Chanhassen, Minnesota, Kirsten and Jay Nelson, Austin, Minnesota; eight grandchildren: Nathan, Matthew and Jacob Isele, Ian and Sylvia Forsyth, Emma, Owen and Davis Nelson; sister-in-law: Elizabeth Isele, Hopkinsville, Kentucky; niece, nephew and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael Olmsted officiating. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, June 12, and at the church on Saturday morning one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Mower County Humane Society or the donor’s choice.
