More than 125 area residents attended a May 28 event to spread awareness about human trafficking.

The Zonta Club of Austin and the Austin Human Rights Commission put on the event, which featured the documentary “A Path Appears,” to raise awareness about sex trafficking that goes on in the area at the Ruby Rupner Auditorium of the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center.

There was also a panel discussion featuring Lia Culbert, Mission 21; Laura Sutherland, Regional Navigator for Minnesota’s Safe Harbor Law; and Diane Lenway, Albert Lea Police Department.
