The Arc’s annual meeting, awards coming soon

The Arc Mower County will hold its 63rd annual meeting and awards ceremony from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 18.

The meeting will feature a report from the executive director, recognition of volunteers, awards presentation, “A Look Back” slide show and light refreshments.

This meeting is open to all members, donors, volunteers and supporters of The Arc. Award nomination forms are available at The Arc office or online at www.thearcmc.org. RSVP by Thursday by calling 507-433-8994 or email office@thearcmc.org.

Treat yourself to the old-fashioned goodness of our mouthwatering, fresh fudge, made with real cream and butter.  Serve some at your family gathering or keep it just for yourself.

Our fudge makes a great gift, so don’t forget to get some for friends, relatives and all of those special people you appreciate.  If you want to save your fudge for later, it will come out of the freezer just as fresh as when you put it in. Make sure to stock up. Most importantly, People First Aktion Club receives 50 percent of the proceeds, so give them your support.

The sale runs through May 28. Fudge will be available for pick-up on June 16. Half-pound boxes are $5 and one-pound boxes are $10. Flavors include chocolate, chocolate walnut, chocolate peanut butter, raspberry swirl, chewy praline, chocolate mint swirl, maple nut, cookie dough and chocolate amaretto swirl.

Want a home of your own?  Who would dream of a person with a disability holding their own keys controlling who and when people come in and out of their own door? Perhaps now since The Arc Mower County and The Hormel Foundation have partnered to provide Housing Services for people with disabilities, that dream will become real.

What are Housing Services? Housing Services helps eligible Minnesota adults with disabilities seek and  locate suitable, affordable, accessible housing.

Who is eligible? Adult Minnesotans of all ages who have been assessed and determined to be eligible for Minnesota Medicaid home care or waiver services and who want to move to homes of their own.

How can Housing Services help you?

•Advocates will accompany you when you look for housing.

•Help complete rental applications and lease agreements.

•Meet with you and landlords/property staff.

•Have knowledge of applications for publicly financed housing.

•Help develop household budgets.

•Assist with finding affordable furnishings and household matters.
