The Salvation Army of Austin is looking for a few good pieces of duct tape.

The Salvation Army’s duct-tape fundraiser will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Salvation Army Thrift Store. People can purchase two-foot pieces of duct tape for $1 to tape store manager Willy Clennon to the wall at about 2 p.m.

Clennon will be taped for about an hour, according to Volunteer Special Event Coordinator Kristine Maier.

This is the first year for the duct-tape fundraiser. Maier came up with the idea while looking at what others have done, and she found a teacher had done something similar before. She wanted to get people interested and try something new.

Salvation Army officials hope to raise at least $2,500 through the fundraiser.
