The Lyle-Pacelli baseball team’s bus was involved in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 56 Thursday on its way to a Section 1A West tournament game in Randolph.
According to the state patrol, the team’s 2012 Bluebird school bus, a 2014 Ford Edge and a 2012 Ford Focus were traveling northbound when the two Fords slowed for another vehicle that had pulled onto the road. The Edge, Focus and school bus then collided near 660th Street in Dodge County.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation briefly detoured traffic while the state patrol investigated the crash.
None of the 13 passengers on the bus were injured in the crash, according to the state patrol. Jason Gnagey, 40, of Byron, the driver of the Focus, sustained non life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital St. Mary’s Campus. The other drivers were not injured, according to the report.
The bus and Edge sustained minor damage, while the Focus sustained severe damage and was towed to Kasson Kar Kare.
After the crash, Lyle-Pacelli’s Section 1A West tournament game was postponed to 1 p.m. Friday.
