Laurie Kay (Nipp) Royer, 53, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Friday, May 15, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with a rare cancer.

Laurie was born Dec. 2, 1961, in Madison, South Dakota, to Virgil and Bonnie Nipp. She grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School, and attended Wesleyan College in Bartelsville, Oklahoma. Laurie married Tim Amick of Brownsdale, Minnesota, and gave birth to three children: Daysha, Cierra and Dakota. She lived in Arizona before moving back to Minnesota. Laurie graduated from Riverland Community College in the Nursing Program. She married Jim Royer on June 1, 1996. Laurie lived in the Austin area and worked as a Home Health Nurse. She enjoyed living the farm life, camping, fishing, music and cooking. Her children and grandchildren were her world.

Holidays were a special time for her. She had a very strong faith and was a member of Crane Community Chapel. Laurie was diagnosed with bile duct cancer on Dec. 2, 2013, and fought a tough battle before being called home.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Royer, Austin; children: Daysha (Josh) Seha, Austin, Cierra (Ben) Brown, Austin, Dakota (Gloria) Amick, Austin, Daylynn (Justin) Kirk, Denver, Colorado; adopted daughter, Ashley Meyer, Hayfield; mother, Bonnie Nipp, Lansing; 10 grandchildren; two brothers: William (Karma) Nipp, Austin, Gary (Sheila) Nipp, Austin; sister, Lisa (Andy) Cheng, Austin; her extended family includes five step children; nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Virgil; step son, Terry Royer.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Crane Community Chapel with the Rev. Dale Christiansen officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Lansing Cemetery. Condolences may be left online at www.mayerfh.com.
