MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota U.S. Sen. Al Franken will travel to Cuba this weekend.

He’ll be part of a congressional delegation that will explore ways the U.S. and Cuba can expand trade opportunities.

The Democratic senator plans to meet with Cuban and U.S. State Department officials and business owners to talk about ways to further open relations with Cuba through trade and tourism.

The meetings will cover opening markets for American farmers and business opportunities in Cuba’s telecommunications infrastructure and energy technology.

The trip is being led by Sen. Tom Udall of New Mexico. Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar made a similar trip in February.
