The Austin Bruins are back in the Robertson Cup Finals, and this time they’ll be hosting it.
The Bruins bested the Lone Star Brahams in a best of three series by taking game three with a 3-2 overtime win in Texas Sunday night. The Bruins won the game when Alex Pettersson scored a goal on an assist from Nico Strum a little over seven minutes into the extra session.
Evan Smith stopped 21 shots for Austin, which tied the game up at 2-2 when Trevor Boyd netted a second period goal.
The Bruins will play in the Robertson Cup Finals for the second straight year and this time the final is an all-Minnesota matchup. The Bruins, who lost to Fairbanks in two games last year, will be hosting the Minnesota Wilderness, who swept Janesville.
