The Hayfield softball team used an early blast to take control and it went on to cruise to a 16-7 win over Cannon Falls in Hayfield Thursday.

Bhrett Zahnle belted a second inning grand slam to tie the game for the Vikings (3-1 overall) and freshman Kate Kruger added a homer and five RBIs in the win.
