Suspect headed to prison for having drugs near school

An Austin man was sentenced Monday to two years in prison for possessing drugs near a school.
Scott Richard Anderson, 42, pleaded guilty to one of two counts of possessing drugs in a school zone in January as part of a plea agreement. He also faced one count each of first-degree sale of drugs, second degree drug possession and driving after cancellation — inimical to public safety.
According to police reports, officers stopped Anderson on Aug. 19 after he was caught driving with a canceled license.
Police found crystal methamphetamine in Anderson’s car and arrested him.
Based on information gathered during the arrest, officers obtained a search warrant and went through Anderson’s house at the 1800 block of East Oakland Avenue later that day. They allegedly found 2.5 grams
