Junior Spring Classic set for this weekend

A large livestock show is returning to the Mower County Fairgrounds after a year off.
This weekend will host the seventh annual Minnesota Junior Spring Classic (MJSC) Beef Show at the Mower County Fairgrounds. The 2014 show was canceled due to frozen water pipes at the fairgrounds after the harsh winter.
MJSC is an educational weekend-long exhibition that provides youth with a fitting demonstration, nutrition clinic, showmanship contest and junior beef show. MJSC is a not-for-profit show that features participants from across Minnesota and surrounding states.
Despite being canceled last year, the show has grown in recent years. After 75 cattle were exhibited in 2008, Heidi Hawkins and Paige Miller changed the show and moved the location. The Bootcamp was created and the show was renamed to the Minnesota Junior Spring Classic.
At the 2013 show, more than 300 head of cattle were exhibited. This year, the University of Minnesota Block and Bridle Club agreed to take over MJSC, promising to continue to make improvements while keeping the traditional bootcamp experience.
