Best Bets: Easter Bunny and his baskets

Get ready for eggs, a bunny and great food this weekend, as Easter hits Austin. Collect eggs, eat brunch and head to the ArtWorks Center to enjoy this year’s Easter with family, friends and neighbors. The Easter bunny may even still be hanging around.

1. Open Studio at the Austin ArtWorks Center

5-8 p.m., Friday, Austin ArtWorks Center

Grab the art supplies and head to the Clay Cavern. The ArtWorks Center will provide the clay and participants should bring other supplies such as paint, paper and canvas for their project. To use one of the throwing wheels, participants will need to attend an orientation session with John Sullivan. The event is free for AACA members, or $5 for non-members. 2. NAHL Playoffs

7:05-9:35 p.m., Saturday, Riverside Arena

The Austin Bruins begin their quest to once again return to the Robertson Cup finals, when they kick off the playoffs Friday and Saturday night. They will host the Aberdeen Wings for a pair of games in the best-of-five series.

3. Annual Easter Event

9-10:30 p.m., Saturday, Westminister Presbyterian Church

This family event has entertainment by Jim Jayes, a carnival, crafts, snacks, an Easter story and egg hunt to follow. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The event is free and open to the public.

4. Austin Knights of Columbus Annual Egg Hunt

9-11 a.m., Saturday, North Driesner Park, 8th St. NE and Oakland Ave

Kids should bring their Easter basket or a bag. Parents should bring their cameras. The hunt will be divided into age groups, and plastic Easter eggs will contain candy or prizes. 5. Hy-Vee Easter Brunch

9 a.m.-2 p.m., Sunday, Austin Hy-Vee

6. Grand Easter Brunch

10:30 a.m.-2 p.m, Sunday, Austin Holiday Inn Conference Center

Enjoy a yummy brunch featuring a waffle bar, omelet station, fresh fruit display, roast beef, sliced honey ham, cod, sides and desserts, without the hassle of cooking and cleaning up. Adults, ages 13 to 54, cost $18.95; seniors ages 55 and older cost $15.95; children ages 2 to 12 cost $9.95, and those under 2 years old are free. 7. 16th Annual Free Community Easter Dinner

12-1 p.m., Sunday, Christ Episcopal Church, 301 3rd Ave NW
