The Austin boys tennis team opened its season a little shorthanded as it lost 6-1 at Mankato West Thursday.
The Packers (0-1 overall, 0-1 Big Nine) played without six of their top 12 players due to Spring Break, but they were still able to force a third set in three of their six losses.
The No. 3 doubles team of Josh Brehmer and Max Deyo lost 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.
“I was very proud of the play of Josh Brehmer and Max Deyo,” Austin head coach Jeff Anderson said. “It was the first competitive tennis match for both of them and they played very well and took a good doubles team to three sets.”
