Two people suffered minor injuries in a car accident Tuesday morning in northwest Austin.

Police Chief Brian Krueger said a 51-year-old woman failed to stop at a stop sign at Second Street and Fifth Place Northwest at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday before she hit a 17-year-old driver traveling east on Fifth Place.

The 17-year-old’s SUV turned on its side and slid on the pavement for a bit before it flipped over onto its wheels once more, where it struck a third car parked along Second Street.

The 51-year-old was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign while the 17-year-old was cited for not having a driver’s license.

Both people told police they would go to the hospital on their own to treat their injuries.
