Robert ‘Bob’ L. Nystel, 63

Robert “Bob” L. Nystel, 63, of Austin, died unexpectedly on Friday, March 13, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Health System Austin.

Bob was born in Austin on Nov. 27, 1951, to John and Virginia “Ginger” (Mauer) Nystel. He was a graduate of Austin High School in 1970. He then attended Riverland College. Bob was involved in managing and booking bands. He spent most of the time managing the band “Taffy”; they played around the area for several years.

Bob married Shaun Hendrickson and together they had two children; son, Alex and daughter, LaurEl. They later divorced. Bob worked as a roofer for Kiker Brothers of Austin and several other roofing companies. He loved rock ‘n’ roll music and was an avid reader. He enjoyed going to local stock car races and riding his bicycle.

Bob is survived by his fiancé Melissa “Missy” George of Austin; son Alex Nystel of Maple Grove, Minnesota; daughter, LaurEl (Kenneth) Hiller of Ramsey, Minnesota; grandchildren: Samantha and Jordan Hiller; two sisters: Linda (Terry) Sprandel of Austin, Dawn (Bob) DeVriendt of Austin; three brothers: Don (Mary Jo) Nystel, Dave Nystel and Wayne Nystel all of Austin; along with several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: John and James Nystel.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Crane Community Chapel with the Rev. Dale Christiansen officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to services. Burial will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery.
