More than 30 Farm Bureau and Minnesota Association of Wheat Growers members from northwest Minnesota met with legislators on March 4. They met with representative and senators, attended committee hearings and discussed issues with leadership of agriculture and rural issues committees. Top issues included: changing property tax system to house, garage and one acre; estate tax conformity with federal law; liability protection for agri-tourism and on-farm promotion and education; wolves; farm business management and agricultural education; commercial driver’s licenses; biotechnology; and buffers.
