Packer swimmers break 4 school records at state prelims

The Austin boys swimming team broke four school records and it will swim in the finals in five events after it had a big day at the Class A preliminaries in the University of Aquatic Center in Minneapolis Friday.

Craig Heimark broke his own 100-yard freestyle record with a time of 46.94 seconds as he took second in the event and he broke his own 50-yard freestyle record with a time of 21.5 seconds and he took fourth in that event.

Ben Walker took fourth in the 100-yard butterfly as he broke the AHS record with a time of 51.89 seconds and Sawyer Myers broke the 500-yard freestyle record with a time of 4:55.15 in an event he took 12th in.

The Packer 200- and 400-yard freestyle relay team both advanced to Saturday’s finals.

Heimark was .03 of a second behind Sam Johanns of St. Thomas Academy in the 100-freestyle prelims.
